Post-Punk Purveyors Flowers in Flames Light Up Hot New Digital Mixtape, Indie Anthems Vol. 7

Post-Punk/Psychedelic influenced Flowers in Flames reach new heights as their featured track "Chameleon" inflames WiFi PR Group’s digital mixtape, Indie Anthems Vol. 7, released at Pitchfork Music Festival and Lollapalooza.

Las Vegas, NV -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/08/2014 -- Fans of The Cure, Joy Division, Interpol, Editors will find Flowers in Flames compelling and a surefire way to find a new favorite in an up-and-coming independent group. They’ve gained even more traction internationally than back at home, having their latest EP, Everything and Nothing, peak at No. 8 on the European alternative charts. Flowers in Flames' frontperson Cynthia Dimitroff says, “We have taken a Post-Punk foundation and given it a cutting edge sound for today."

Their latest accomplishment is being featured on WiFi PR Group’s digital mixtape, Indie Anthems Vol. 7, released at both Pitchfork Music Festival and Lollapalooza.

As can be heard on this album and their recordings, guitarist David Chavez and vocalist/keyboardist/guitarist Cynthia Dimitroff have a powerful but playful give and take, with forceful guitarwork from Chavez and melodic theatricality from Dimitroff that give Flowers in Flames their engaging Post-Punk Neo-Psychedelic feel. This includes their self-titled debut album (2008), which was mixed by the band and Todd Tobias of Guided By Voices, and their 2012 EP, Everything and Nothing.

Music columnist Mike Mercer mentioned Flowers in Flames in his goth-noir encyclopedia, Music to Die For: The Last Great Guide to the Underground Scene, released in 2009. In a review, Mercer describes their [track] “Chameleon,” as “a tense affair but with a resilient melodic heart” having “a darker sound, the air gathering timidly around the bravely burning vocal. Noisy succulence from a band embracing the post-punk spirit with just the right balance between tunes and a torrid tonic.”

Over the years, Flowers in Flames have been featured in the press, including The Big Takeover magazine, Skyscraper magazine, Cleveland Plain Dealer and several other blogs and online review sites. Mike Perazzetti of Radio Casbah says, “While described as post-punk, and it certainly is that, I find strong undercurrents of numerous early punk influences as well as strong hints of dark 80s and goth mixed throughout.”

Flowers in Flames are now featured on the digital mixtape, Indie Anthems Vol. 7, released by WiFi PR Group at Pitchfork Music Festival and Lollapalooza, both held in Chicago. The two festivals feature a wide range of artists and genres, a prime destination for the Indie Anthems release, where Flowers in Flames landed in the hands of industry tastemakers and music lovers from the world over. After being handed out on 3,500 download cards, 1.500 more download copies of the mixtape are now available on the Indie Anthems Bandcamp page.

Flowers in Flames have upcoming live performances, and in the past they have opened for such artists as Baptist Generals, Pop Culture Suicides and Mission of Burma.

Flowers in Flames’ music is now available for sale from digital music providers, such as iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, ReverbNation, Rhapsody, eMusic and Deezer, and physical copies are for sale at local record stores throughout the Cleveland/Akron area. Listeners can also stream Flowers in Flames’ tracks from Spotify.
