The Narayana Hrudayalaya is extending its arms to Mysore seeking to take its health care to the emerging mini-metro.

Bangalore, Karnataka -- (ReleaseWire) -- 10/17/2011 --The Narayana Hrudayalaya is extending its arms to Mysore seeking to take its health care to the emerging mini-metro. The work for 1,000 bedded hospital was launched on Thursday wherein the government was asked to focus on health sector.

Like they reserve land for construction of schools and colleges in urban and rural areas, the government should set aside plots for construction of hospitals. This will go a long way in extending quality health care at affordable cost to the rural areas, co-founder of Infosys Technologies, K Dinesh said at the launch of the groundwork. According to him, focus on various sectors including health is crucial for growth of the nation. Industrial growth is not enough for the progress of the country, he said. What is needed is basic facilities should reach people. Health care has become expensive because of paucity of manpower including doctors. The governments should focus on this, he said.

Suttur mutt seer Shivaratri Deshikendra Swami launched the works. In the first phase, 300 bedded hospital will be built. The Mysore Urban Development Authority has provided 10 acres plot at Devanur III Stage. This will be Narayana Hrudayalayas fourth unit in Karnataka after Bangalore, Kolar and Dharwad.

Dr Devi Prasad Shetty of Narayana Hrudayalaya said they have 5,000 beds now across India. Mysores facility will come up in six months. The super specialty hospital will focus on extending health care to poor, he said. Referring to centralized air-conditioning facilities extended at many hospitals, he said this is leading to spread of disease. The Mysore facility will be eco-friendly and use natural resources amply.

The hospital will have 6 operation theatre, 25 beds at intensive care unit, blood bank and other facilities.
