Scott Tucker Secures Second Successive Win of New Season

Madison, WI -- (ReleaseWire) -- 05/17/2012 --Scott Tucker and Christophe Bouchut last week secured their second successive win of the new season. Long Beach, CA. was the setting for the second round of the 2012 Tequila Patrón American Le Mans Series. Tucker and Bouchut claimed victory in the P2 category. The Level 5 Motorsports driving duo triumphed in a drama filled 2-hour endurance race around the streets of Long Beach. Some inclement weather in California meant that race organizers were forced to cancel Friday's ALMS qualifying session, this wasn't all bad news for the Level 5 team as it meant that the starting grid order would be decided based on the current 2012 ALMS championship points standings.

After their victory in the opening race of the season in the 12 Hours of Sebring this meant that Tucker and Bouchut's #055 HPD-ARX03b car started the race in pole position for the p2 category. Despite that fact that the Level 5 team started in such a good position they suffered some really bad luck when hit from behind by a GT category car after about 20 minutes of the race. With Tucker at the wheel the #055 car spun and as a result lost some valuable time. The drama didn't deter Tucker and he recovered really well moving his way up through the field in fine fashion before stopping for a routine refueling and driver swap pit stop.

When the veteran Frenchman Christophe Bouchut took over driving duties after an hour of the race he showed all of his vast experience by swiftly moving the car into 2nd position in the P2 category. Bouchut never let Conquest Endurance's #37 Morgan-Nissan car driven by British driver Martin Plowman out of his sights and eventually took the lead when the #37 made an refueling pit stop with just 6 minutes left to race. It seemed that the Level 5 Motorsport team had managed to conserve some fuel and this was a major contributing factor as Bouchut held on to secure the P2 category win for level 5 Motorsports.

This was the second successive win for Tucker and Bouchut this season and it helped them open up a significant lead in the championship points standings. After winning the P2 championship in 2011 they have made a great start to the defense of title so far this season. Tucker and Bouchut will be looking to further increase their points lead in Monterey in May when the 3rd round of the 2012 Tequila Patrón American Le Mans Series stops at the Laguna Seca raceway.
