Powerful Documentary Inspired by the 2010 Earthquake in Haiti, Resilient Hearts, Screened at United Nations

New York, NY -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/03/2014 --Claudine Oriol, Haitian-American actress, director and producer, celebrated the first-ever screening of her documentary film, Resilient Hearts. The screening took place on Thursday, January 30 at the Global Ambassadors Sport for Development Summit, attended by several former and current NFL and NBA players, Olympic athletes, celebrities, friends, ambassadors and world leaders. This year’s summit was hosted by Kweku and Ndaba Mandela, grandsons of the late Nelson Mandela, as well as Sidney Rice, wide receiver for the Super Bowl contender, Seattle Seahawks. The screening, which was discussed during the summit by leaders of non-governmental organizations, elicited a strong emotional response from viewers and a dynamic question and answer discussion with the director.

In her directorial debut, Claudine sheds light on Haiti’s unique and rich history, conveys the resiliency of the Haitian spirit and shows the strength and power of a community united. Claudine, who left Port-au-Prince one hour before the earthquake, filmed this documentary as an ode to her fellow Haitians – giving a voice to the voiceless.
