Waxhaw, NC -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/24/2014 --There are countless stories on the news and the internet about children constantly battling various illnesses. Sometimes, these illnesses take the lives of beloved children who have fought so hard to survive. Isabella Santos is one of those children. She lost her battle with Neuroblastoma at the age of seven after putting up a five year fight. Every year, around the time of Isabella’s birthday (March 9), the foundation set up in her name hosts a blood drive to benefit Neuroblastoma. This March, The Isabella Santos Foundation is pleased to announce their third annual blood drive in accordance with the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC).

As Isabella spent much of her time undergoing blood transfusions to help free her body of the Neuroblastoma cancer, there’s no better way to help raise awareness for this pediatric cancer foundation than donating blood for the benefit of others. The goal is to provide the CBCC with at least 100 units of blood. Having reached their goal last year, those involved with The Isabella Santos Foundation are excited to see how many units 2014 will provide. During Isabella’s fight, she needed the support of those in the community on a daily basis, and this included the donation of blood. Those that donate blood through the CBCC are helping those in the community who are desperately searching for a cure. The CBCC supplies their blood to many hospitals—and patients—in the community.

The Isabella Santos Foundation, as a non profit in Charlotte, NC, hosts numerous events each year to help benefit Neuroblastoma and pediatric cancer research. From 5k runs to blood drives, there are plenty of ways to get involved and show support. To hear more about the organization, or to inquire on the exact date of the third annual Isabella Santos blood drive, please visit their website or find them on Facebook today. If unable to attend the blood drive, but still feel like donating, individuals can make a donation on the website.
