The website will offer lessons on how to deconstruct devices, showing how the device works, how the materials are used and how to reconstruct the device.

After exploring the device, a guide will show where to retrieve the necessary materials.

“Once you've become the maker, then others will feel compelled to become makers themselves,” said Durham. “If you could create your own device, wouldn’t you want to share it with others and let them know where they can learn to do this?”

Currently, Around Your Screen is a one-man operation that is in its first phase of collecting and organizing its library of content. Durham said he knows the website needs another hard worker to build it.

In order to do this, Durham launched a fundraising campaign on indiegogo.com. He is seeking interested individuals who connect with his idea and who want to support his vision.

The goal for Around Your Screen is to raise $34,000 by May 2014. The money will go toward hiring another person and cover the expenses related to running the website.

Durham added that the support he receives through his fundraising campaign will open up pathways for individuals to empower themselves with the tools they create.
