In development for the past two years GarageSkins are the homeowner’s affordable answer to up-scaling their home in less than an hour. The do-it-yourself system will quickly transform an overhead metal garage door into a high-end custom carriage house style wood door for under $1000.

Bringing attention to the fact that a garage door is often the largest single part of the front view of a home Medlen said of his product, “Builders have used the same type of basic stamped-metal overhead garage door for 30 years. Until now there’s been no way to entirely revamp the look of a garage door unless you were willing to spend at least $8,000. I have to be honest; this frustrated me so I went to work to develop GarageSkins for the home consumer on a budget. This product is beautiful, practical, and cost-effective. Changing a run of the mill presentation into a beautifying eye-catcher, GarageSkins includes lightweight wood panels that attach magnetically to existing metal garage doors. With no adhesives or screws necessary homeowners need only to take the system’s magnetic panels out of the box and attach them. Available in several wood species to compliment the architecture of any home the panels are designed to interact with existing framing and headers. No alterations to the panels or the home is necessary and at just over one pound per panel, GarageSkins installation is practical for any consumer. For further individualizing garage doors the company offers eight specialized multiple overlay patterns with either square or arched tops.

Slated for further expansion GarageSkins is now in the process of developing WindowSkins for garage doors with window details. The product has a clear patent-pending polycarbonate panel and a removable black vinyl covering. Once the black vinyl is removed light through the clear panel will illuminate the interior of the garage and help maintain the look and integrity of the product overall.
