Rockville, MD -- (ReleaseWire) -- 04/09/2014 --With a $25,000 goal George Gabriel has launched a crowdfunding project on Indiegogo to support his mission to create a self-sustainable home and garden for some of the homeless population of Rockville, Maryland. In hopes of buying and renovating a low cost home Gabriel’s vision is to allow people to stay and eat in exchange for their work in the home’s organic garden farm. George Gabriel, a homelessness survivor and now founder of Homeless Hope said of the project, “I remember being on the street and wondering why no one could help. I intend to be the person that can help. I don’t want to turn anyone away who just needs some very simple help like a meal or a bed.”

Endeavoring to house and feed residents Gabriel will sell what produce is not consumed from his organic garden to local vendors. A two pronged effort to help the homeless with room and board and local communities with organic produce, Homeless Hope will purchase a fixer-upper for between $10,000 and $15,000. The rest of the crowdfunding support will go toward renovating the home. Currently working in the construction industry himself Gabriel will bring his expertise to the forefront. Completion for the project is estimated at between two and six months.

Crowdfunding support will go toward the home purchase, renovation of the home, and garden building necessities. If the project is not funded entirely Gabriel intends to begin community garden projects to further his cause. He adds, “This is a life changing project in so many ways. I want to reach out to people around the world and show them that there’s hope. I want to show them that if everyone works together we can, and will, solve the homeless problem. It’s my dream that if this message can reach just a few people, and they decide to share it and give hope to others, this model for change will begin a revolution. I want to make this a reality but I need crowdfunding help. I need people to stand behind this mission with me.”

Crowdfunding perks will include the commemoration of crowdfunding supporter’s names in the concrete walkway of the Homeless Hope house. For a $100 donation supporters will receive a “I gave hope to the homeless.” tee shirt and for a $250 donation the first 15 supporters will have fresh organic vegetables sent directly to them. For a $500 donation one can design a room in the home. Rounding out the crowdfunding perks, a $5,000 donation will allow a supporter to name the home which will be presented on a sign in front of the residence and on all marketing.
