The 11-year-old oral and maxillofacial surgery practice opened in 2003, and by 2012, they needed to open a new location. That location is not far from Bowman Field, and is the headquarters for the dental practice. According to documentation about the new location, the newest office on Cannons Lane was set to become the home of a cancer treatment center, but the then-owners chose another location, and a realty office then managed by Dr. Christopher Babcock purchased the Cannons lane property. Ground broke for construction in September 2012, and the new center is now up and running.

There, doctors provide a variety of services including wisdom teeth removal, placement of dental implants and help patients with a variety of other conditions, including sleep apnea, cleft lip and palate. According to articles about the new center, one floor of the 2-story dental center is devoted to a new practice - the Dental Surgicenter of Louisville. There, patients who require sedation for dental procedures, like crowns, or more serious procedures, like bone grafting, wisdom teeth extraction and oral surgery. There’s also space for continuing education and an underground parking garage for clients and doctors.

The new center on Cannons Lane is closer to their referral base, and that makes sense, said Dr. Christopher Babcock.

All five of the practice’s doctors earned degrees at the University of Louisville and earned diplomas from the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery according to the doctors’ biographies on kyoms.com
