Lake St Louis, MO -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/18/2014 --Education is lacking about the Pension with Aid and Attendance program and there are nearly 10 million veterans over the age of 65. Elderly veterans and surviving spouses who face care issues can seek this little known VA program which can provide funding of up to $25,020 to pay for the cost of senior care services such as home care, assisted living or nursing home care.

There are four basic eligibility criteria: 1. The Veteran had to serve 90 days of active duty with one of those days falling during a period of war. 2. Non-service related injury and require the assistance of someone else. For example, Alzheimer’s/Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, History of Stroke, or other. 3. Income to Medical Expense Ratio 4. Asset Limits.

The VA Pension Aid & Attendance program from the Department of Veterans Affairs offers an enhanced pension for re-imbursement of medical expenses. “It is a shame that many veterans or surviving spouse who could qualify, cannot- simply because they can’t afford the actual medical expense while the VA is processing their claim. Often, we find that many people apply for the benefit before having the expense in place and are simply denied”, said a Veterans Express spokesman.

Veterans Express is sponsored by Veterans Care Coordination (VCC), a company aimed to assist those in need of home care services.

“Our partner VCC can fund for the care services through an interest-free loan. This would allow the client to receive the care immediately while waiting for the VA to process the claim. The pension with the Pension with Aid & Attendance funds are retroactive from application date. As the Veterans Affairs Department reimburses, you can pay off VCC back for the care services,” explained another spokesman from Veterans Express. He also added, “This would solve two problems and relieve you from prolonged waits for Home Health Care and assisting in helping pay for the care.”
