Ranchlands Dental expands its range of services

Calgary, AB -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/09/2014 --Ranchlands Dental, a dental practice based in Northwest Calgary, is pleased to announce that it is expanding its treatments to include Botox injections. Interested patients are invited to contact Ranchlands and book an appointment for consultation. Treatment options are available for patients who desire cosmetic alterations to their skin and patients who desire Botox as part of their clinically necessary dental procedures. This new service option for Ranchlands Dental comes in the aftermath of extensive regulatory reform. Previously, Alberta dentists were unable to use Botox due to restrictive legislation.

Botox is the brand name for the medically beneficial form of a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum. Though most well-known for its anti-wrinkling effects, Botox is also used for many other medical treatments. In dentistry, Botox is used as a treatment for several conditions, including temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) as well as excessive teeth clenching and grinding. It has also been shown to be effective as a treatment for hypersalivation.

In other fields of medicine, Botox has also been used to treat muscle spasms, headaches, and vocal cord dysfunction. Research is ongoing into Botox’s effectiveness to treat injuries and diseases that affect the central nervous system, including multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and cerebral palsy.

Ranchlands Dental was established in Calgary by Dr. Nooralli Jaffer. The practice has been open for 33 years, making it one of Calgary’s longest-running dental clinics.
