The Kids of Indian Township Documentary Project - Indiegogo Push Will Fund a Chain of Good Deeds

Exeter, ME -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/11/2014 --Skilled and highly motivated experts are producing a skill-equipping documentary while having students involved in learning and practicing during the indie film project. The apprentices of the project will be able to then share their skills and knowledge with others in isolated communities using the documentary. University of Maine at Orono film department students have committed to help with the project, passing on filming techniques; including the use of video/sound and other equipment. The rural area being targeted includes native American children and teens, who might fall prey to many of the ills of remote areas; such as alcoholism, drug abuse and other negative behaviors.

A historian/writer and other skilled individuals have been secured to assist with interviewing local residents and completing other components of the project. One thing this film will highlight is the challenges these children face, such as geographic isolation, prevailing racism and their status as Native Americans. The Passamaquoddy Tribe are some of the oldest people of North America, and Prew points out that they have been overlooked. Also referred to as Sipayik, the natives are residents of Pleasant Point reservation in Maine's eastern-most tip.

Christopher Prew, an experienced educator, is the brains behind this project. He previously wrote and published an instructional how-to book and believes in using media to teach and instruct.

He feels that children and teens need tangible, marketable skills that they can both share and use in business enterprises.

The success of this campaign will enable the filming of the documentary and conducting the interviews that it will require.
