Queen Creek, AZ -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/19/2014 --Business owners, especially those who own small ones are optimistic this year that this year will be the year for growth. This is according RocketLawyer’s most recent survey that involves 1,000 business owners across the United States. The survey showed that more than half of the recipients experienced growth last year some even stated that the growth exceeded what they expected. This year, an overwhelming 80% of these entrepreneurs expect this year to be even better.

Despite economic concerns – cash-strapped customers, limited loans, healthcare woes and a government shutdown, these entrepreneurs remain positive and emphasized that marketing and branding this year will make the growth they aim for come to reality. Over 40% of the respondents stated that it’s their top priority this year, developing new products and service, hiring or international expansion are way too far behind at 13%, 6% and 2% respectively.

If by chance, these business owners marketing efforts paid off and their business did grow, it is advised to seek and focus on the business’ legal protection. More than half of the respondents in RocketLawyer’s survey, the ones that achieved growth, stated that they consulted with a business lawyer.

It will be healthy to do a research prior to hiring a business lawyer, then narrowing down the options to the business’ specific problems and needs.

Basically, there are two types of business lawyers, one that handles law suits, the business litigators and the ones that handle contracts and corporate matters, the transactional lawyers. Some lawyers do both, some specialize on just one field. Often times, transactional lawyers are the best options, however if one is involved in a lawsuit, seek for a business litigator.

One’s business will be around for a while, that’s a fact. It is advised to seek and hire a lawyer or law firm with the proficiency to cover the business’ anticipated needs. It is not a bad idea to look for a full service firm that does both litigation and transactional work; in fact this lessens the stress and hassle.

It is also wise to scrutinize if the lawyer is connected with a finance – or business related organizations. Having a lawyer who has an involvement in a state or local chamber of commerce or other related local organizations is an edge, depending on the business’ legal needs.
