Mission Be Mindful Education Cultivates Character

Indiegogo push will fund compassion-sharing platform through workshops and training

New York, NY -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/19/2014 --Homes and schools used to be safe and happy havens. Carin Winter believes that they can become that way again. She decided to do something to raise up a standard against the assault on safe schools and a safe world. With her Be Mindful Education Program, she is turning the tide by developing this platform of mindful education; which involves reminding children that they effect the world around them and that others effect them. With a four-legged foundation centered upon the principles of fairness, generosity and the life's breath and compassion, she believes that a healthy vein has been tapped into to sway things in a positive direction.

Winter and her team of nine hopeful mindfulness practitioners still hold the view that the world offers exquisite beauty, and that children should experience it to the full. In fact, although some throw character education out the window, she includes it in her program. She believes that the scientific research-based methods they use can be taught so that it becomes a life practice.

Trained practitioners of mindfulness education have helped to broaden the horizons for many children and adults.

A component of the program is Mission Be; which works with schools, communities and public and private entities to integrate the mindful education program. Mission Be is designed to create positive lasting cultural changes and a generation that help the standard of peace, tranquility, calmness and safety in the learning environment emerge and become a force.

When in a peaceful environment, children are free to learn optimally. A lauded poet who just died (Dr. Maya Angelou) was a drum major for peace and she spoke and wrote words of harmony and tolerance everywhere she went. She showed that people have more in common than they do that could distance them.

People like Angelou show the world what can BE. She demonstrated that making peaceful choices has to be intentional, and can be practiced. The Be Mindful program does no less. It offers a whole litany of positive ways that people can be deliberately mindful.

As Winter states, “We envision communities where people practice empathy, benevolence, and tolerance towards each other appreciating the diversity inherent in our communities.”

By offering workshops, forums and programs for various populations, utilizing Power Point Presentations and other media; along with modeling the characters and tenets of the program, Be Mindful proponents are igniting a spark that is anticipated to bring hope and promise to the world.

As one 4th grade student of the program has attested, “Mindfulness has changed my life.”

A 9th grader admitted that some of the world’s contamination washed away after he participated, by stating, “Mindfulness is like taking a life shower.”

A High School Administrator is singing its praises, by sharing the following words. “We have changed the culture of our school!”

The impact of this program has been felt already on several key fronts.

The success of this campaign will help fund training of more Mission Be, Mindful Educators, enable more delivery platforms to be developed and support geographic expansion of the program.
