Washington, DC -- (ReleaseWire) -- 07/08/2014 --Young adults from four Washington, DC, Seventh-Day Adventist churches will unite in McPherson Square on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 2:30 for the Park 'n Praise Event. 

This event is designed to provide food and clothing for 500 homeless people through the efforts and talents of young adult volunteers.  Park 'n Praise will include a concert, vesper thought service, prayer teams, health checkup stations and provisions of food and clothing to any homeless people who may want to take advantage of the service.  Roland Blackman, project organizer and visionary, will welcome members of Metropolitan Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Restoration Praise Church, Seabrook Seventh-Day Adventist Church and Takoma Park Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Osei Daniels, Takoma Park Seventh-Day Adventist Church Youth Pastor, is hopeful that this event will bring the community together and offer opportunities for both volunteers and the homeless to learn about the joy of service.  "This is our second time doing Park n' Praise. Seeing the expressions of joy on the faces of the volunteers and homeless is indescribable. The volunteers are happy that they can do something positive in their community and the homeless are happy that someone cares about them," says Daniels.

While volunteers realize that they do not need to wait for a big event like Park 'n Praise to help the homeless and others in need, this event is designed to show those who are suffering that people in the area care and to inspire them to seek a deeper relationship with God.  The volunteers are asking for support through volunteering for shifts at the events, donating money at the online giving page located at http://parknpraise.wix.com/parknpraise , or donating items for the toiletry drive.  T-shirts will also be available for purchase, and all proceeds will go toward the costs of the event.

According to the young people involved, this event provides them an opportunity to work with those in their own communities who are in need.  As Blackman says, ”I believe community service is what we were born to do. As a local resident, when you see the faces of the homeless, you know that you have to do something to help ease their pain. This event provides an opportunity for young people to use their talents to help those who are less fortunate.”
