ADRIAN and SUPER-A: Life Skills Workbooks for Children with Autism and ADHD

Chicago, IL -- (ReleaseWire) -- 07/10/2014 --Children with an autism spectrum disorder or ADHD now have a fun way to practice necessary life skills. A new series of activity books tailored for these children has just been released. The pages are colorful and pedagogical and will help develop the autistic or ADHD child by mixing life skills challenges with fun exercises based on the strengths and interests of these children.

In the first two workbooks, the child will guide Adrian and Super-A through the steps of baking and the child will learn together with the young superhero and her brother how to share toys and to understand that Mom, Dad and their baby brother don't always like the same things.

The exercises with Lego bricks and building blocks will draw the attention of most children and they also serve as a visual instruction on how the following exercises focusing on social skills and routines should be solved. Parents or special education teachers can help the child or student to understand how the everyday world works without the effort of writing social stories or repeatedly explaining routines. The familiar book characters Adrian and Super-A will do that for you! The workbooks have extra material at the end, like the small memory game, that allows the child to find out what happens if you bake cookies for too long, or a simple picture recipe for coconut macaroons.

Although specifically tailored for the child with autism, Asperger's, or ADHD, any kindergartener who needs to learn about sharing, waiting, and daily routines, will benefit from the workbooks. Author Jessica Jensen has tried out the workbooks on children who enthusiastically choose between the right and wrong way to carry eggs or who should turn on a stove. The workbooks are released by Be My Rails Publishing, started by the author with the aim to publish books for special needs children. The Adrian and Super-A workbooks will be available in different difficulty levels, starting with The STARTERS Workbooks for children as young as three years old.

STARTERS Bake & Like with Adrian and Super-A: Life Skills for Kids with Autism and ADHD builds on the skills introduced in the book Adrian and Super-A Bake and Like Differently, which is an interactive book using social stories and pictograms. Similarly, The SMARTIES Workbook is suitable for children who can grasp multiple choices and are ready to learn numbers. Both workbooks have colorful images and support different ways of problem solving. Depending on his or her motor skills, a child can answer by pointing, drawing, or giving a thumbs up with Thummie the Thumb, a character found in the book series about Adrian and Super-A. A READERS Workbook will be available in the future.

For anybody who wants to learn life skills with a superhero, it is now possible to join forces with Super-A and her small friends. The autism and ADHD books and workbooks are available on Amazon  http://amzn.to/1daVFBv
