Wixom, MI -- (ReleaseWire) -- 07/30/2014 --Many moons ago, Maria Dismondy was an elementary school teacher. She taught for over a decade with an MA degree from MSU in Curriculum and Research before publishing her first children’s book. Maria saw a great need to produce children’s literature that covered lessons on empathy, self-esteem, anti-bullying and respect. She wanted to create characters that were realistic and those children could relate to. Maria successfully did this with her first book, ‘Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun.’

Later on, Maria embarked on a public speaking journey around the country, speaking to children and parents. She resigned from teaching, started a family, and wrote four more award-winning children’s books. Maria currently works in and out of her home, writing and producing books, visiting schools and working with thousands of children. She also coaches aspiring writers on their own personal journey to publishing a book.

Maria’s new book is inspired by real events where she tells the story of her student Gabe's first day of school in America and the challenges he faces when learning to speak English. This book helps illustrate how a smile, or the simple act of sharing, is worth a thousand words. Kindness is a universal language. It certainly made a difference to Gabe.

Maria’s project comes at a perfect time, as the media has their eyes out for books like this one. She knows this book will sell coming from a small publisher. She has the ability to market the book in a way that reaches her target audience first hand.

This book reaches other cultures, classrooms, and families who have English language learners. It is Maria’s hope that, by crowd-funding this project, she will gain the attention of organizations and individuals that work with English as a Second Language Learners – both to financially contribute and promote in their communities.

This project will only be funded if at least $15,900 is pledged by Fri, Aug 22 2014 8:15 PM +05:30.
