Testing and evaluation of pallets are conducted according to A.S.T.M. D 1 185-94 Standard Test Methods for Pallets and Related Structures Employed in Materials Handling and Shipping. This test standard takes into account: conditioning, static load compression testing, drop testing, sine vibration and incline impact testing. And the results: plastic pallets deflect.

Supplemental testing often includes random vibration, dynamic compression, and a thirty-day loaded static compression test. Sample pallets are subjected to dynamic compression tests. The pallets have an applied load with a rate of deflection of one inch per minute. This amount is based on the designated weight of the product the pallet is designed to carry. When pallets deflect, there is visible catastrophic damage to the pallet.
