2012 Dodge Journey Equipped With New Engine and Free Seating Option

Changes to the standard engine and transmission on the 2012 Dodge Journey combined with free third-row seating option makes the Journey a great value.

Columbus, MS -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/23/2012 -- Carl Hogan Automotive is pleased to announce that the 2012 Dodge Journey SXT, AVP and SE have just undergone a few major changes. The standard engine for those three Journey models was previously a V6, but Dodge has recently changed the standard engine. A 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is what now rests under the hood of the new Dodge Journeys. The 3.6-liter V-6 engine is still available as an option, but no longer holds the position of the standard engine.

The 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine pushes 173 hp compared to that of the V6’s 283 hp. The new standard engine reaches a high 26 miles per gallon on the highway. In addition to the new engine, Dodge has replaced the former six-speed automatic transmission with a four-speed automatic. The new engine and transmission has made the standard SXT model quite a bit more affordable dropping the MSRP from $24,495 to $22,295, as well as saving the consumer a few bucks at the pump.

Not only is the engine upgraded, but in the month of March Dodge is offering free third-row seating. With the extra seating package comes a 50/50 folding and reclining third-row seat, while the second-row is easy-entry with a 60/40 tilt and slide seating. This extra row of seating makes the Journey a comfortable 7-passenger vehicle. Typically the third-row seating would add an extra $995 to the crossover’s price.

The SXT model seems to be the model with the most focus, as it’s the deluxe edition of the three models with the new engine. Standard available features include: fog lamps, 17-inch aluminum wheels, front and rear performance fascias, and a 4.3-inch Uconnect™ touchscreen with CD, MP3 and Sirius XM Satellite Radio.

In February Dodge marked a 27% increase in sales from the previous year. The Dodge Journey itself posted a 28% increase in comparison to last year’s sales. It’s safe to assume with the lower prices on the 2012 Dodge Journey SXT, AVP and SE combined with the March seating incentive those numbers will only increase this month. The seating discount ends April, 2 2012.
