New York, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/16/2012 -- Photographer, painter, and Sculptor Scott Tucker has moved his ISC Studio gallery into the YoHo Artist Studios in Yonkers, NY. giving Yonkers' expanding YoHo arts community a welcome boost ahead of the 9th annual YoHo open studio tour which takes place later this month.

Scott Tucker and his partner Tracey Brookes have relocated their ISC art and design studio from Brooklyn into the YoHo Artists Studio on Nepperhan Avenue which is housed in the old Alexander Smith carpet mill building.

Scott Tucker's move means the YoHo Artists Studio now has its first permanent gallery and The Heights Real Estate Co., owners of the historic old carpet mill building are hoping that the move will help bring more artists and galleries into Yonkers' art community. George Huang from The Heights Real Estate Co. recently told The Journal News' website lohud.com that "We feel this is a milestone in the evolution of YoHo, it's the natural progression and evolution of an arts district."

The Heights Real Estate Co. has already shelled out nearly $1 million investing in the renovation of the historic building, which now has 50 lofts and Scott Tucker plans to use the new space for a variety of purposes, namely for ISC's main offices, a production workshop for his furniture line and of course a display area for his and Tracey's artwork. Tucker told The Journal News' website lohud.com that he was attracted to Yonkers due to the space it offered them, and he went on to add that "We liked the idea of a growing arts culture in Yonkers and Westchester as a whole'.

Scott Tucker also plans to use some of his new 4,000 square foot space to showcase art exhibits and offer educational programs separately his production area. After purchasing the former carpet mill building in 2005 owners The Heights Real Estate Co. are hoping the that Yonkers can follow in the footsteps of other post industrial New York City neighborhoods like Chelsea by becoming known for their arts communities. The 9th annual YoHo artists open studios takes place on April 21st & 22nd at the Alexander Smith Carpet Mills building, 540/587 Nepperhan Ave, Yonkers NY.
