The Expatriate Lifestyle Charity Open promises to be the most prestigious golfing event in the expatriate calendar. This exclusive annual event will be played at the Royal Selangor Golf Club on 18 May 2012.

The day will consist of a gross and net competition, longest drive, hole-in-one and closest to the pin. The fantastic goodie bag, competitions and prizes will be sponsored by prestigious Malaysian and international lifestyle brands like Etihad, http://AsiaWebDirect.com, City Golf and others

At just RM450 per player registration fee participation is limited to 100 players to ensure a quality golfing experience at one of the best golf courses in Malaysia

“The Expatriate Lifestyle Charity Open is now firmly established as a top golfing event in the expatriate calendar. We attract the best amateur expatriate golfers in Malaysia, competing for big prizes at Asia’s oldest and best known golf club. Plus, we raise important funds for three very worthy children’s charities. This is a day you don’t want to miss”, said Graham Paling, Group CEO of Mongoose Publishing Sdn Bhd, the publishers of Expatriate Lifestyle magazine.

Last year, over 70 of the best amateur expatriate golfers in Malaysia had a great time playing on one of the best courses in the country and won prizes including a Peugeot 207 for a Hole In One and business class tickets to any Etihad destination in the world. The proceeds, totaling a huge RM40,000, were donated to three selected charities Rumah Nur Salam, Precious Children’s Home & Puchong Learning Centre.

This year the target is 100 amateur expatriate golfers and a minimum of RM45,000 for Puchong Learning Centre, Sinar Salam, SOLS24X7 and Dignity for Children Foundation

The Puchong Learning Centre is a safe haven for underprivileged children and orphans living with relatives in extreme poverty. Aiming to provide the children with at least one meal a day, the centre is 100% dependant on volunteers for both material resources and physical. On a weekly basis, regular volunteers teach basic English and Maths in hopes that the children will be able to at least hold a simple position in the retail scene instead of being left to roam the streets as most of these children fare rather poorly in school and are often left behind.

Rumah Sinar Salam provides a safe and healthy environment to abandoned children in the Chow Kit area. Over 35 children are currently living at Rumah Sinar Salam. Each day about 40 to 60 children will visit the centre. Most of the children are originally from Chow Kit and come from one-parent homes. Many of them are the children of sex workers or drug addicts.

Science of Life Studies 24/7 (SOLS24/7) began operations in Malaysian in 2007. SOLS 24/7 is a Non Governmental, Non Religious Organization that provides a unique Education program for underprivileged youth who are not able to acquire a proper school education or are unable to pursue higher education due to financial difficulties or otherwise. SOLS 24/7 has a full-time boarding program where students are provided education, boarding and meals (3 times a day) for FREE. Students are taught a structured program of leadership & character skills as well as academic/book smart skills.

Established in 2003, Dignity for Children Foundation aims to empower underprivileged children to break the cycle of poverty through quality education, positively transforming their lives and the lives of the community around them. They cater to children from ages 2-17 through their education, sports and youth development programs. All their programs are based on the national curriculum as prescribed by the MOE but incorporate Montessori principles. Currently they reach out to 700 children.

Mr. Yeoh Guan Jin, the Communications and Corporate Affairs Manager for Selangor Dredging Berhad is very excited about being part of the Open, “We are very pleased to be the presenting partner for this prestigious event that not only helps us strengthen ties with the expatriate market in Malaysia but also helps deserving children's charities who support the most vulnerable in society”.
