St. Peters, MO -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/17/2012 -- Sometime last year Nissan came up with an idea to of putting the GT-R’s engine in the new crossover SUV, the Juke. It was supposed to be just a simple side project that probably wouldn’t ever make it to the global market. However, when Nissan showcased the Juke-R at the Dubai Auto Show it received a strong positive reaction from the crowd.

Nissan later released a video online showing the Juke-R racing powerhouse supercars such as the Ferrari and Lamborghini. Nissan still considered the Juke-R a side project that wasn’t going to amount to anything. However, one of Dubai’s wealthiest members made a firm commitment to buy not only one, but two Juke-Rs. After that, another person stepped forward and requested his own Juke-R as well.

Nissan had enough request to start production on the new Juke supercar. Request can still be made on the 545 hp car, but the cost of the car has not been released yet. If Juke-R happens to become a hit, you can probably expect to see a whole new line of “side project” R supercars including the Altima-R, Versa-R, and Maxima-R.
