Hound Lists More Than 110,000 Jobs in a Week Even As Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke Warns of Slow Growth

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/15/2010 -- Almost 700,000 jobs from various sectors found a place on Hound, an only-employer job site even as economists have warned of a jobless recovery in the next few years. Even Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke has said that it would take years to reduce the high unemployment rate.

The perceived upsurge in the unemployment rate reported in May was because of the hiring of census workers. But these 411,000 census workers will be let go in a few months and will again be competing for jobs in an economy that is increasingly being labeled as experiencing a jobless recovery. High school students will be entering the workforce in the next few months, including those who are putting off going to college. This is going to create a lot of competition for the few thousand new jobs created in the next few months.

‘However”, says Harrison Barnes, CEO of Hound, “the situation is not as bleak as the media makes it out to be. There is still tremendous potential in the job market. There are small businesses hiring all over the country. These companies oftentimes do not advertise their jobs in the classifieds and paid sites. But the jobs do exist.”

Hound tracks down all these unadvertised (as well as advertised) jobs by going to the employer websites and fetches them for its members. In the last seven days alone, Hound has been able to compile a list of over 110,000 jobs from employer websites and other sources on its website. The jobs are available in the healthcare, education and sales sectors among others. In the healthcare sector there is a good demand for physical therapists and other highly-skilled professionals.

Here is the latest data on the sectors with most openings:

• Healthcare jobs (165,306)
• Education jobs (37,416)
• Information Technology jobs (61,535)
• Retail jobs (37,772)
