Villa Group Resorts Announces Villa Del Palmar Loreto on Schedule for January 2011 Opening

Mexico’s Premier Private Hotel Group Continues Expansion with Resort Opening in Baja’s Breathtaking New Vacation Destination

Loreto Bay, Mexico -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/12/2010 -- The Villa Group, one of Mexico’s largest privately owned hotel groups, continues its strategic growth with new properties, expansions and renovations to provide guests at every property with superior hospitality in premier oceanfront destinations. The latest jewel scheduled for the company’s crown is Villa del Palmar Loreto, a $60 million, world-class, five-star resort featuring 171 villas, all with views of the Sea of Cortez, tennis courts, free-form multi-level swimming pools, several restaurants and five-star amenities. Villa del Palmar Loreto will open the first phase of its resort facilities in January 2011, including all stunning villa accommodations, a 35,000 square-foot spa and fitness center, and three restaurants, including a fine dining ocean front restaurant, a sushi and seafood eatery and an international buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Set in a spectacularly secluded area along the Sea of Cortez, Villa del Palmar marks the first property in Villa Group’s 1,800 acre development named “Danzante Bay.” The master plan calls for a five-year timeline at the end of which Danzante Bay will feature seven resort hotels including a Villa La Estancia, 240 home sites, additional restaurants and a Rees Jones golf course – all with Loreto’s little known collection of islands in the Sea of Cortez as their ocean-front view.

“This is a great time to be in construction in the Baja Peninsula,” said Owen Perry, one of Villa Group Resorts’ three owners. “We have the most skilled craftsmen anywhere and work has progressed smoothly and quickly. Loreto and its surrounding islands are perfectly poised to take off as a destination in a way that will enhance the community without detracting from the natural beauty of this breathtaking environment. As the first major developer here, we are thrilled to be leading Loreto into the future.”

Located a little more than midway down the Baja Peninsula, the area has long been known as a rustic setting famed for its 1697 Mission – one of the first of the historic California Missions – and the majestic Sierra de la Giganta mountains that back the city. However, a lesser known attraction is the largely protected and pristine marine environment at the city’s front door. Home to five secluded islands – Coronado, Del Carmen, Danzante, Montserrate and Santa Catalina, Loreto has ensured that both the islands and the water are protected from commercial development, fishing and any damaging sporting activity. Preserved for non-impactful enjoyment, the “Islands of Loreto” are home to 900 species of reef dwelling and migratory fish, and are a wonderland for sport fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, whale watching, day trips for island hiking, sun bathing, picnicking, and evening excursions for romantic sunsets and private dinners on the sand. Reachable by water taxis or kayaks, the islands vary in size and scope – but all offer the joys of nature undeterred.

Danzante Bay is located about 20 minutes from downtown Loreto and the Loreto airport. Within easy access are the city’s charming restaurants, shops, nightlife and marina. Hotel Santa Fe, another Villa Group property, is located in the heart of Loreto’s tranquil center. This 118-room hotel features colonial design and décor and reflects the beauty and simplicity of the Baja region. Loreto’s appeal as a romantic escape, outdoor enthusiasts’ dream, historic setting and cultural enclave are legendary among the niche set of travelers “in the know.”

Today, Loreto, with its surrounding seascape and mountain range, is poised for prime time.
