Competition Projected to Kill 87 Mexico Dental Clinics in 2015

Chandler, AZ -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/10/2014 -- Dental clinics in Mexico are dropping like flies according to a new study published in September. IMTJ, a leading medical travel journal states that dental tourism is quickly moving toward a commodity driven market. Price wars, competition, and confusion may have put as many as 5 to 9% of clinics out of business in the last 12 months - with no sign of this trend slowing down for 2015.

But It Gets Worse

The rise of marketing savvy doctors, paired with US based marketing firms, are making it increasingly difficult for the average clinic to thrive in their marketplace. "In the past 12 months, we've noticed a rise in demand of about 20% but we aren't getting much of that extra business. The competition here is so fierce", says one Los Algodones dentist who asked not to be named.

But the rising competition and price cutting isn't the worst of it. According to many dentists, the old means of getting patients aren't working as well as they used to.

The Problem Is Marketing "Incest"

According to an industry study, most dentists rely on the same methods of advertising. Methods such as Google AdWords, SEO, US based agencies, and Facebook. Yet recent trends show that dentists are using these methods in the same way as one another, and this is causing confusion for prospective patients. And therein lies the big problem:

Patients Don't Know Who To Trust

"Getting an international patient to suspend their doubts and fears enough to call you, and then open their wallets to a medical professional over the border requires a lot of trust. When every dentist is doing the same things, in the same way, the patient doesn't know who to trust. They see you as just another cheap dentist", says marketing specialist Mitch Miller with the Trust Marketing Group based out of southern Arizona.

"In fact, research done by the Medical Tourism Association shows that the top 10% of clinics get 92% of all the business. I see no good reason that needs to be the case."

Good News: Great Patients
Are Still There!

According to the Medical Resource Tourism Guide, over 50,000 Americans came to Mexico for dental work in 2014 and that number is expected to rise by 20% to over 60,000. That breaks down to over 150 new patients every single day. Combine that with the fact that over 25,000 Americans are searching online for a dentist in Mexico every year tells us there is a lot of money to be made for everyone.

According to Miller, this is no surprise. "People need cost effective dental work more than ever, especially with the rising cost of heath care and that 73% of Americans do not have a form of health insurance. It's just a matter of putting your practice in front of the people who are looking for you. If you do that, then you can easily have your best year ever".

And for savvy dentists who embrace new marketing strategies, the future is looking even brighter.

Because the number of Americans seeking dental work in Mexico is rising by 20% per year, the opportunity for dentists to get more patients than ever is huge. "This is a classic situation where the people who take advantage of this opportunity first, are going to be the ones who make the most money".
