Pedal the World - An Adventure Around the World on a Bicycle

Herxheim, Germany -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/16/2014 -- Actually, everything was perfect - but something was missing Felix Starck in his daily life. The meaning of life? Perhaps. In June 2013, the then 23-year old started in his biggest adventure yet. 18000 km - 22 countries - 365 days – all on a bicycle.

Untrained, with 55 kg baggage and his camera equipment he cycled going into the unknown, without a lot of planning and only path as the destination. He chose the bike to experience the world more intense, but that sounds better than it is sometimes, he quickly realized.

"When you slowly go away from home, it feels incredibly difficult to dissolve!" Felix Starck

After a while he split from his buddy who joined him in the beginning, but then after six weeks the first major setback: pneumonia in Serbia. He spits blood, has a high fever, a treatment in Germany is necessary. After a short treatment, but by no means completely cured after 10 days he flies back to Serbia, the buddy remains at home this time. Left alone and physically injured, he goes further and recognizes that probably the biggest challenge of the trip is the solitude.

He holds by and will be rewarded. Fantastic scenery and the experience of incredible hospitality propel him. Wild elephants in the jungle, New Year's Eve in Bangkok, geysers in New Zealand, the Times Square in New York. He discovers the world on his own - the camera always with him. And that caught not only the spectacular scenes professionally, but also documented his personal ups and downs.

Halfway through his grandfather dies, with whom he loses an important person and the thought of aborting the trip is becoming increasingly ubiquitous.

In Cambodia he was robbed by the police - dust, heat, fumes and waste incineration never let him be really healthy. The moments for which it is worthwhile to continue always came back. He grows on the challenges and enjoys independence. With nature as ally and adversary, he experiences the absolute freedom and suddenly knows why he gets up in the morning. "For sometime to come, where ever that is," said the resume of the hero.

Now he is back! With him a visually powerful and emotional documentation of his thrilling journey. With unsparing self shots and breathtaking scenes he lets us share his personal adventure.

By the way: The trip was completely funded by Felix as a private person and he also donates one 1€ per sold Download/DVD to the World Wildlife Foundation.
