Join Ocean Squared for the Sailing Event of a Lifetime

Miami Beach, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/16/2014 -- This opportunity is not for the faint of heart. If you would, however, enjoy the adventure of a lifetime, racing a 100-foot custom yacht at international events in the Caribbean and elsewhere, then Pier Mario of Miami Beach welcomes you. His Ocean Squared Sailing Team is being assembled for a series of 13 events in the Caribbean, the U.S. Atlantic coast and France.

No experience is necessary, just a love of the ocean and a willingness to learn. "We will have at least four trainers on board, and we will make training plans accordingly," said Pier Mario, who is teaming with Mark and Bruce for this project. "The yacht will carry up to 20 people, and you will have the opportunity to learn from others."

The first event, the ARC Caribbean 1500 Rally in Portsmouth, Va., sets sail Oct. 30, 2015 and lasts for 15 days. It is the longest-running ocean-crossing rally in North America.

Next up is the Mount Gay Rum Round in Barbados, slated for January 2016, followed by three Caribbean events in February: Grenada Sailing Week, the Rorc Caribbean 600 Race and Jolly Harbor Valentine Regatta in Antigua. Other races throughout the year will take place in Maryland, the Caribbean and France.

Pier Mario, Mark and Bruce started planning this project in 2012. "Our aim was to fulfill peoples' sailing dreams and desires," Pier Mario said. "This would include an exclusive performance yacht to sail and a team with whom to sail it."

Their challenge, at this point, is to raise enough capital to build and maintain the yacht, and then find interested parties to join them for these adventures. The budget for the yacht is $700,000, which includes 60 percent financing of the yacht, first-year operation and sailing cost.

"We found the perfect sailing yacht for this project," said Pier Mario. "It's a 100-foot, custom-made sloop, capable of reaching 15-plus knots and accommodating 20 guests and crew. This vessel is fast for racing and comfortable for long transatlantic crossings."

In order to generate funding, the Ocean Squared team has launched an Indiegogo campaign, which can be viewed at www.indiegogo.com/projects/dreaming-about-your-first-next-sailing-adventure--2

Backers can help finance this project by becoming a member of the sailing team. The fee for each event ranges from $2,500 to $4,000 per person and includes the official Ocean Squared Sailing Team uniform: spray jacket, polo shirt, T-shirt, cap, shorts, travel and sleeping bags. Events are 5-15 days. For details about each race, see the Indiegogo page.

"We're hoping that people will join us on board for an unforgettable journey on the water with an amazing team," Pier Mario said.
