Global Syn-Turf Is Invited to Bid on the Whiteland High School Athletic Fields Improvements Project in Whiteland, IN

Hayward, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/12/2015 -- Global Syn-Turf, Inc., has been invited by MacDougall Pierce Construction, Inc., to supply synthetic turf in their contract to construct improvements to the Whiteland High School Stadium in Whiteland, IN. The Whiteland, Indiana-based Clark-Pleasant school district was looking for $3 million to improve athletic fields since September, 2012. The improvements include replacements of the football fields with artificial turf, new running tracks and softball, soccer, and baseball facilities. Since November, 2014 Clark-Pleasant schools are collecting bids for the proposed athletic renovations at Whiteland Community High School.

"We're pleased to be working with MacDougall Pierce Construction on this project and that our turf will end up in a local high school in Whiteland," said a GST rep. "Synthetic turf sports fields have many benefits, to which the school's decision to reinforce its current artificial turf surface attests."

Recent conjecture about the health effects of artificial grass installations has led some to doubt artificial grass categorically as a public sports field surface. Crumb rubber infills, for instance, have come under legislative scrutiny: Senator Jerry Hill's Turf Field Act of 2015 if approved would prohibit California schools until 2018 from installing, or contracting for, the installation of a new sports field surface made from synthetic turf containing crumb rubber because of the rubber's suspected adverse health effects.

Global Syn-Turf, however, proclaims that they have always recommended organic infill as opposed to crumb rubber when giving consultation for sports field turf installments. "We have never recommended rubber infill to our customers or our partners, and fully support Senator Hill's proposed bill," said a GST rep. "Most people mistakenly believe that the rubber crumbs are required in artificial grass installations. This is a huge misconception. In fact, Global Syn-Turf's grasses and recommendations are designed to serve the very purpose of providing safety: our grasses meet Gmax safety standards, and organic infill materials and shock pads are always advised in the installation thereof."

The high cost of water and the level of maintenance required for upkeep are just a few of the reasons why public schools have now become not only receptive but eager to learn more about the advantages of synthetic grass.

"Our grasses are so highly developed and apt for usage on sports fields that Ottis Anderson, former Super Bowl MVP, said that the difference in quality between the turf he was playing on years ago and our products today is like night and day," continued a GST rep. "Our confidence in our products, coupled with recent ventures with companies such as MacDougall Pierce Construction, Inc., have made us bullish on the demand of public schools for synthetic turf installed with organic infills."
