A humorous book written by a comedian and a cancer patient who wants to make other cancer patients laugh.
Toronto, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 01/20/2015 --Laughter is the best medicine and truer words were never spoken when it comes to cancer patients. That's because every cancer patient lives under a black cloud in the form of a question that dominates their daily existence; will they beat cancer or will cancer kill them? Comedian and cancer patient Josh Haddon is administering his own method of cancer treatment by following in the footsteps of famous comedians who took their own medical scares and turned them into laughs. Comedy legend Richard Pryor often made people laugh at his own medical misadventures and well-loved comedian Robert Schimmel shared his own encounter battling cancer with audiences who roared with laughter.
At just 28 years old, most people would agree that Josh is too young to only have 5 % chance of living to see his 31st birthday. He's going to make the most of every minute he has left by helping other people through their own cancer battle. Having always been a writer and a pretty funny guy, he launched a crowdfunding campaign to get the help he needs to be a writer with a solemn purpose; to help cancer patients and their families during their darkest times.
After his web series "The Funny Thing About Cancer" reached nearly 100,000 people globally in just 48 hours he knew he was on to something.
After joking about cancer in a video, thousands of emails poured in from all over the world encouraging him to write a book to help newly diagnosed cancer patients cope. He fell in love with the idea and ran with it.
Crowdfunding is sought to so that Josh can self-publish his book and cover the estimated costs of editing, printing and shipping the book to cancer treatment centers across North America. Backers to this crowdfunding project can enjoy their own eBook edition of Josh's book as well as doing something good for cancer patients. Josh wants to give cancer patients a chance to laugh as only a fellow cancer patient – and comedian – can. All funds raised beyond the crowdfunding goal will be evenly distributed towards helping Josh pay for his insanely expensive prescription drugs and cannabis oil with the other half slated for donation to cancer charities and related groups.
This crowdfunding campaign ends on January 27, 2015.
