High Cooking Temperature May Increase Risk for Inflammation-Related Diseases

Portland, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/26/2015 -- Unhealthy food choices are believed to be one of the major causes of the development of a wide variety of diseases. New research now suggests that these diseases do not only develop by eating the wrong food items, but may also be caused by the way the food is prepared.

Research showed that using high cooking temperatures can increase risk for inflammation-related diseases. Meats cooked in high temperatures, for instance, can potentially contribute to the risk of chronic diseases associated with inflammation.

The Mount Sinai School of Medicine conducted a study that showed frying or grilling certain food items at high temperatures can produce compounds that promote inflammation in the body. Inflammation-related diseases such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are among the conditions that can develop due to consumption of food items cooked in high temperatures.

"These sorts of studies show us that the development of certain diseases can be prevented not just by making healthy food choices, but also in improving the way the we cook food. The study suggests that food items that require less cooking are healthier and are less damaging," said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O'Sullivan.

Experts believe that compounds known as advanced glycation end products or AGEs contribute to the development of inflammatory diseases. The compound is found in the blood of individuals who are suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Recently, scientists also found that food items cooked in high temperatures create AGEs, which are easily absorbed by the body. AGEs are usually obtained from unhealthy food items such as burgers and fried chicken.

Due to the increasing number of individuals who are suffering from arthritis, experts suggest that people should limit their intake of grilled, fried, microwaved and broiled meat. It is further suggested that eating fruits and vegetables can significantly reduce a person's risk for certain ailments. These food items require less cooking and are naturally low in AGEs.

Aside from eating food items that are prepared using the healthiest cooking methods, natural supplements are also recommended by many health experts. Spices such as turmeric are among some of the arthritis-fighting foods that are widely recommended nowadays. It can be conveniently and effectively consumed through the use of curcumin supplements. Curcumin is an active ingredient of turmeric and is believed to have a multitude of therapeutic benefits (http://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-BioPerine-Bio-availability/dp/B00JA4TLTI/).
