Chattanooga, TN -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/24/2015 -- Having trouble finding an open parking space downtown? One local UTC graduate has developed a solution with his new application. The ParkParrot app will show where parking lots are located as well as how many spaces are available in each lot all while being completely automated.

"ParkParrot is designed to save user's time and money while also reducing their stress levels and CO2 emissions," said company founder, Chandler Burke. "This technology would be the first of its kind in the Scenic City."

Chattanooga is in the midst of an economic boom, which is leading to job growth and population increases, as well as parking shortages in high-density areas across the downtown district. ParkParrot would reduce the hassle of doing business in these high traffic areas and make the entire experience more consumer-friendly.

Unlike other parking apps that depend on widespread adoption and require the users to input data, ParkParrot uses onsite equipment that automatically notifies app users that a space is now vacant, making the app more user friendly.

After an initial investment by SwiftWing to develop the prototype, Burke is using the popular crowdfunding site KickStarter to fully develop the technology and launch his ParkParrot app. He has been developing the business since graduating from UTC in 2014. If funded, he plans to launch the app in Chattanooga, using local parking lots as his first customers.
