Experts Join Together to Help Homeowners Identify Japanese Knotweed

Cobham, Surrey -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/05/2015 -- Japanese knotweed (Fallopia japonica) has received national media coverage over the last year, primarily due to the destruction it causes to residential properties. Japanese Knotweed is a non-native plant to the UK which is extremely invasive and can cause severe damage to properties. Japanese knotweed is a serious problem for homeowners, landlords, developers and contractors. The plant's roots extend across a wide area and it is not uncommon for Japanese Knotweed to break through structures causing permanent damage.

In an effort to combat the spread of the plant in 2015, the experts have joined together to offer a free identification service. A guaranteed eradication service using a patented approach called "Xtract" can then be used to remove the knotweed from the affected area.

The Japanese Knotweed identification service is available free of charge to home owners and landlords by calling the free advice service on 01932 808965.

The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 makes it a criminal offence to plant or otherwise cause Japanese knotweed to grow in the "wild". Knotweed causes damage to properties but can also cause serious disputes between landowners where the plant is allowed to encroach across borders. In some cases this can result in Anti-Social Behaviour Orders being issued where land owners fail to take action

About Japanese Knotweed
