Standish, MI -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/12/2015 -- San Francisco-based Instacart partnered with Petco to provide same-day delivery to customers in San Francisco and Boston. Orders can be placed via the website or Instacart's mobile app, and customers can choose to get items within an hour, two hours, or later. Fees are $3.99 or $5.99 per delivery. Instacart "personal shoppers" will receive orders on their phones, go to a Petco store to pick up items, and make the delivery. Two-year-old startup Instacart has so far been inclusively a grocery-delivery service, but CEO Apoorva Mehta has said there's no reason to limit the company's services. Partnering with a pet-supplies retailer seems especially promising, considering that some supplies, like dog food or kitty litter, can be big heavy bags that are hard to transport — not to mention that many people dote on their pets enough to splurge on delivery fees.
