World of Warcraft Gamers Targeted by Ransomware Teslacrypt Virus

Scottsdale, AZ -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/26/2015 -- A new malware program attempts to extort money from gamers by encrypting game saves and other user-generated files for popular computer games. The threat is now targeting WoW gamers through game saves, maps, profile and other custom content.

The new threat, which claims to be a variant of the notorious CryptoLocker ransomware, is now targeting 185 file types – 50 of which are associated with popular games such as World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, Minecraft and World of Tanks and its corresponding software.

The virus propagates via infected email attachments and existing botnet. When activated, the malware encrypts certain types of files including player profiled, maps, and saved games stored on local and mounted network drives using RSA public-key cryptography, with the private key stored only on the malware's control servers.

The malware then displays a message which offers to decrypt the data if a payment (through either Bitcoin or a pre-paid cash voucher) is made by a stated deadline. The message also includes a threat to delete the private key if the deadline passes.

While it is easy to remove or uninstall the virus itself, the virus also encrypts data files in the process, thus rendering them useless unless decrypted.

Currently, there are no publicly available ways to decrypt files affected by TeslaCrypt but fortunately, Dezillion has developed their own virus removal services that offer remote removal of this dangerous ransomware

"The Dezillion virus removal service was exactly what I needed," says Jane K., a customer from California who was recently affected by the virus. "I don't have the skills to install software and do it myself. The technicians did all the work for me while I watched. They removed the virus and decrypted my documents. I now have an antivirus and firewall installed. I feel confident that my computer is now secure and I won't have these issues again."

Their security experts can remotely connect to a clients' PC and remove all viruses, spyware, and other threats or malicious programs hiding in their computer while the computer looks on. Dezillion and their team are focused on providing 24/7 support for gamers affected by the Teslacrypt Virus and in providing quality solutions so players can get back to gaming as fast as possible
