Moments of Impact: Sole Survivor of an "Unsurviveable" Plane Crash Explores Humanity's Relationship with Risk and Short Impactful Conversations That Can Save a Life

Written from the heart and tragic experiences of Tom Wilson, ‘Moments of Impact’ recounts the author’s defiance of the odds after the plane he was flying in smashed into the side of a mountain and disintegrated around him. Alongside contributions from renowned behaviorist Stephen Quesnelle, Wilson tells the story of the crash, his physical/spiritual recovery and dissects how humans interpret risks every day decisions we are faced with.

Fort Saskatchewan, AB -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/15/2015 -- The bottom line is that Tom Wilson shouldn't be here; he should have died in November 2008 along with the other passengers in a Grumman Goose seaplane that crashed and exploded.

But Wilson is still here and now lives each and every day with a bold new appreciation for life, faith and humanity's tumultuous relationship with risk. In this compelling new memoir Wilson bares all.

Book Synopsis:

In November of 2008, Tom Wilson was the Sole Survivor of a violent plane crash. The aircraft's Emergency Locator was completely destroyed when, under full throttle, the plane slammed into the side of a mountain on an uninhabited island. He was left stranded, badly burned and poorly clothed for the cold fall temperatures.

Although the Transportation Safety Board Investigation Report describes the crash as unsurviveable, somehow Tom's life was spared and his search for meaning began.

'Moments of Impact' is a gripping and visceral account of Tom's survival story that focuses on the many different aspects of his physical, emotional and spiritual recovery. Tom and co-author, Stephen Quesnelle, a professional behaviorist, explore the factors and behaviors of the pilot and the passengers which culminated in this tragic and preventable loss of life.

Written in two distinct parts the first part of the book tells Tom's story of the crash, recovery in the burn ward and looking at life through a new lens. The second part of the book examines the moments of impact in our lives and the meaningful way to connect with others and influence the future.

"I have lived through something that few people will ever experience and I believe that it is my calling to share the painful lessons learned in the hopes of saving the life of someone else," explains Wilson. "The past six years have been both more tumultuous than I could ever have imagined. I've come to the stark conclusion that the opportunity for brief moments of impact between people escape us every day. I want to honor those who died by helping to make the world a safer place for all."
