"While 'alcohol awareness' should not be isolated to one month in a year, I hope this annual reminder will help save lives."
Alcohol use is a significant public health issue and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) estimates that 16.6 million Americans have this disorder. The Bottaro Law Firm is asking people to evaluate their drinking habits because this can lessen the risk of alcohol use and the dangers of excessive drinking. According to the NIAA, low-risk drinking for women consists of no more than three drinks on any single day and no more than seven drinks per week. Low-risk drinking for men consists of no more than four drinks on any single day and no more than 14 drinks per week.
Excessive driving can lead to risky behavior, health problems, injury, and death. Among young people, underage drinking results in over 4,300 deaths each year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that in 2012, more than 10,000 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes, which is one person every 51 minutes.
