His upcoming film Great Au-Pair will reveal the present state of the LGBT citizens in Turkey. Hakan has just started an Indiegogo campaign to meet his funding requirements for this venture.
The film's story is about a young Muslim man that leaves his home country Turkey to become an AuPair in New York. His life in Turkey was full of fear, apprehension, and shame because of his sexual orientation. Incidentally, in New York, he falls in love with the father in the family. This sudden turn in life makes the man raise serious questions about his own life, fear, and sexual orientation.
Through his movie, Hakan Yidiz wants the world to know about the sorry state of the LGBT citizens of Turkey. Every year, hundreds of LGBTs commit suicide in this country. Many others are ostracized by their family members or the public. The life of an LGBT person in the Muslim world is that of shame and fear.
All funds raised from Indiegogo will be used by Hakan to make his movie in the best possible way. His funding goal is $250,000.
