CORAL is a drowning detection system that has been designed specifically for private swimming pools utilizing video analytics. The co-founders Eyal Golan and Dr. Tamar Avraham are looking to raise funds to support the successful completion of the project.

However, unfortunately, hundreds of children drown to death every year while enjoying the pleasure of swimming in private swimming pools. These tragic incidents inspired Eyal Golan and Dr. Tamar Avraham to start developing CORAL. This drowning detection system is based on video analytics and has been designed to make private swimming pools safer for the children. This system is simple to use and requires no sophisticated installations.
The components of the CORAL system comprise of a pool unit, an in home alarm unit, and a smartphone app.Equipped with an underwater camera and unique proprietary software, the pool unit tracks people and objects in the pool and detects drowning risks. CORAL is different from other pool safety devices because it continuously looks for drowning events. However, it sounds an alarm only when it detects a child or any other individual at riskof drowning.
The initial version of CORAL is expected to work best in rectangular or oval shaped pools up to 36 feet long.
The co-founders of CORAL have already reached advanced stages in the development of their core video analytics module and other software. However, they are in need of external funds to complete the development of CORAL and turn it into a commercial product. An Indiegogo campaign just started to raise $250,000 for the project.
Funds raised will be used for:
- Building improved "alpha" and "beta" devices to finalize the analytics module and to conduct many more field tests.
- Product design and manufacturing
- Building the remaining software of the system
