Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/05/2015 -- Award-winning worship artist Stephen B. Steward, in partnership with LOV Olive Branches, CDC – a nonprofit organization serving at-risk youth - announces final youth talent call for the highly anticipated annual "SBS Youth Talent Competition and Festival."
The deadline for solo and group acts for youth applicants aged 5 to 17 is May 11, 2015. Youth are encouraged to visit http://www.stephenbsteward.com/2015-talent-competition to upload videos demonstrating their talent in singing, dancing, acting, playing instruments, and spoken word. After talent submissions end on May 11, finalists in each school category (Elementary, Middle, and High School) will be selected and announced to perform live this summer at the annual SBS Youth Music Festival. Grand Prize winners of each school category of the competition will receive a $1,000 scholarship. A total of $4,800 in cash scholarships will be awarded.
The SBS Youth Music Festival will convene at the Los Angeles Convention Center on July 11th - 10am. Los Angeles City Councilmember Curren D. Price Jr. (9th District) will offer opening remarks at the Festival and has arranged for bus transportation to and from the venue for youth that need it. Some of last years' and this year's judges include emerging film maker Fonseca D. Woodruff; Florence LaRue of the 5th Dimension; pianist, composer, Kevin Toney; vocal coach and singer Belle Johnson; actor, producer, director Obba Babatunde; rapper, producer, spoken word poet Lanny Wilson better known as GaKnew Roxwel; musician, singer, songwriter, actress Tyana Parr; actress Dawn Marie Ferrera; TV host, actress KiKi Shepard, and more. Special guest entertainment includes teen sensation Mali Nicole of Los Angeles, 12 year old DJ Kiss of Pasadena, and pop music duo We R Remix.
