KLK School of Welding and Theory Launches 16 Week Course with South Western Welding Academy

Partnering with South Western Welding Academy, KLK School of Welding and Theory will provide a 16-week course to teach the students hands-on skills far beyond what the school curriculum provides.

Hanover, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/06/2015 -- In today's environment, students are perhaps in the worst position they have ever been in terms of finding meaningful and gainful employment. Education focuses almost entirely on Academia and Sports, and both these areas employ a tiny fraction of the total population. Practical skills and apprenticeships are needed for people to thrive in a working environment. Now, KLK School of Welding and Theory is partnering with the South Western Welding Academy to provide both skills and apprenticing experience. Their new course will see students split their time between the Academy and KLK's factory, gaining on the job experience that will be invaluable when students begin seeking work.

Students will work with the welding school to study a wide variety of topics, expanding and deepening the understanding they will develop at the South Western Academy. Students can practice multi-process welding, plasma cutting and overall safety. KLK School of Welding and Theory has even donated multi-process welding machines to the South Western Academy.

KLK School of Welding and Theory was keen to ensure the course was open to more than existing students, ensuring open access to community members, and any high school student in York or Adams counties can attend. The idea is to create viable employment opportunities in a skilled field for people right out of high school.

A spokesperson for KLK School of Welding and Theory explained, "We are thrilled with the opportunity to partner with South Western Welding Academy, and create real hope for people looking to develop new skills through the sixteen week course. The skills, knowledge and experience that students of the course will gain will be invaluable. The aim is to ensure that more people have practical skills that are in demand in the current marketplace, and to teach students realities of the industry that would be impossible to convey in an academic setting. We look forward to welcoming our first cohort of students."
