Disability Host Provider I Can Direct Announces First Plans for Transition to NDIS

While some details remain to be determined, group's just-revealed strategy sets a course for smooth transition to National Disability Insurance Scheme for Queenslanders, I Can Direct reports

Caboolture, QLD -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/08/2015 -- I Can Direct, a leading host provider under Queensland's Your Life Your Choice program, announced plans for helping residents with the upcoming transition to Australia's National Disability Insurance Scheme. With Queensland scheduled to come online with the program on the first of July next year, I Can Direct is prepared to ensure that the transition will be a smooth one for the many disabled residents who take part in the state's Your Life Your Choice self directed support system. With a plan now in place that accounts well for the details known ahead of the bilateral agreement to be signed in December of this year, I Can Direct is especially well positioned to help disabled Queenslanders and their families navigate the upcoming changes.

"Since launching in September of 2012, Queensland's Your Life Your Choice disability support program has been a resounding success," I Can Direct representative Nigel Webb observed, "We're proud to have helped so many people take advantage of the program and, like others, thrilled with the flexibility and opportunities it provides. We're excited to announce that our just-revealed plan leaves us well positioned to help residents of Queensland make the upcoming switch to the NDIS."

Unlike in many other countries today, disability insurance and support in Australia has traditionally been provided at the state and territorial level. That began to change at the end of 2012, when a bill providing for the establishment of a nationwide disability support program met with approval in the Australian parliament.

Instead of seeking to fold in the existing state-level disability programs all at once, the bill provided for a gradual roll out. With several state systems having been incorporated into the national one already, Queensland's is scheduled to join in July of next year.

The final details of that transition have yet to be settled upon, with the signing of an agreement scheduled for December being necessary for this. As the outlines of the agreement have become increasingly clear, however, I Can Direct has worked to create and update a plan that will allow for the easiest, simplest possible transition to the new system for residents of Queensland.

In revealing that strategy today, I Can Direct shows how it plans to become just as well known as an ndis provider as it is today as a your life your choice host provider under Queensland's own disability system. Offering up free, two-hour consultations that help disabled Queenslanders learn about and plan for how to use the popular Your Life Your Choice disability program, I Can Direct has become one of the most highly regarded and successful options of this sort.

While certain details of the transition remain to be finalized, then, those who contact I Can Direct today can be confident that the move to the NDIS system will go smoothly, maintaining the crucial support they and their families need. As more about the handover becomes known, I Can Direct representatives will provide further details about the organization's plans for helping clients through it.
