As of December 31, 2013, the company operated 46 bakeries, of which 44 are owned and two are leased, and one mix plant. It has 46 bakery subsidiaries in 16 states that produce a range of breads, buns, rolls, snack cakes, and tortillas. The direct-store-delivery (DSD) segment operates 38 bakeries. The warehouse delivery segment operates eight bakeries that produce snack cakes, breads and rolls for national retail, foodservice, vending, and co-pack customers and deliver through customer's warehouse channels. Their DSD route delivery system to retail and foodservice customers runs from New England to Florida and west through the South, Southwest, and into California. This DSD growth in gaining in popularity and explains the dramatic growth of the ergonomic self-stabilizing hand truck by Magline.
