Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/11/2011 -- eBay is planning to add 1,000 jobs to its office in Austin over the next 10 years after the city government offered the company incentives worth $1.2 million.

The employees would actually be working for PayPal, eBay’s subsidiary, which already employs around 250 people in Austin. eBay calls itself the world’s largest online marketplace. PayPal is its fully owned subsidiary which is now the world’s largest alternative payments business.

eBay will be hiring mostly software developers and engineers. The average pay is going to be around $122,000 per year. Austin’s labor pool of talented engineers and software developers has already made the city rank high among various business-friendly lists. Forbes said it had the third best jobs market in the country in January. It also ranked as the 10th best place for young professionals and 8th best for business and careers.

100KCrossing, a job aggregator site, has been tracking jobs that pay over 100K a year and so far has found over 25,000 such jobs nationwide. CEO A. Harrison Barnes says that several times such high profile jobs are not posted on regular public job boards but only on the company’s own website.
