Goa Tourism Bound to Shift Toward Heritage

Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/08/2012 -- In recent news, it has been revealed that Goa’s beaches are heavily contaminated with faecal bacteria. The fact has been corroborated by researchers at the National Institute of Oceanography. However, heritage of Goa is rich enough where beaches constitute a major entity though.

Goa is undoubtedly a hot spot of tourists where swimming attracts loads of enthusiasts delving deeper into ocean’s waves. However, swimming conducted on Goa’s beaches have been reportedly posing health risks in the recent times with untamed contamination. The damage to the beaches has been inflicted by the sewage.

Taking into account a senior expert’s view, Mr M Namaiah, the level of contamination is alarming as it is double than the prescribed limits, deemed highly unsafe. It might become unfortunate for 2.6 million holidaymakers who visit round the year. In particular it is the Brits that would be devoid of an affordable exotic getaway.

It would also mean a setback for the Indian Government, which was planning to construct marinas in both the south and the north. In doing so, the aim was to attract the wealthy tourists on yachts. However, in wake of this report, which has been substantiated by a governmental agency itself, it will become difficult for the government to carry the same agenda.

Amidst all this, things are not that depressing. As we know that Goa is equipped with rich cultural heritage, it has potential to allure tourists till the time its beaches become fit for exploring. Apart from that, Goa Beaches can still be used for relaxation on sandy beaches.
