Mountain Bike Race Organizer Scott Tucker Ready for Big Race

This is the fifth year that the Dry Hill has staged the Northwest Downhill Cup race on the outskirts of Port Angeles.

Port Angeles, WA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/27/2012 -- In Port Angeles, WA. The Peninsula Daily News recently caught up with Scott Tucker, the co-organizer of the Northwest Cup National Mountain Bike Championships who is optimistic that this weekend's upcoming races will be a huge success. The race is the biggest non World Cup race event in the whole of the country and is second of three scheduled race meetings to take place on the Dry Hill course this spring.

This is the fifth year that the Dry Hill has staged the Northwest Downhill Cup race on the outskirts of Port Angeles and according to Brad LaBrie's piece in The Peninsula Daily News the organizers are expecting around 400 racers to compete. The entrants in Northwest Downhill Cup are a mixture of both amateur and professional racers.

The event is open to the public and for the first time and co-organizer Scott Tucker is anticipating that the large number of professional racers competing will result in record crowds. He told The Peninsula Daily News that "Our timing helps draw the World Cup riders. They come here because we race before the World Cup Season begins."

The Dry Hill course is one of the few in the nation to meet World Cup standards and this means that the professional riders enjoy competing as it gives them some much needed practice before the World Cup season starts. There will be extra food and beverage amenities available for competitors and spectators and even a shuttle bus which is expected to help prevent parking congestion. Scott Tucker went on to add that it's a good time to see competitive mountain biking up close and personal.
