SCZCC Announces Shilpgram Utsav Khajuraho Starting from 17th February 2013

SCZCC is organising its most popular and prestigious programme of Shilpgram, Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, i.e. Lok Folk (Shilpgram Utsav), a festival of folk dances & crafts of India from 17th to 25th Feb., 2013 at Shilpgram, Near Bus Stand, Khajuraho, Distt. – Chhatarpur in M.P.,India

 

Nagpur, Maharashtra -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/18/2013 -- S.C.Z.C.C., Nagpur is one of the seven zonal cultural centres in India established on 2nd October, 1986 under aegis of Ministry Of Culture, Govt. Of India. This year centre is celebrating its Silver Jubilee year of establishment. SCZCC, Nagpur is having its jurisdiction in the state of Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.

The centre is organising its most popular and prestigious programme of Shilpgram, Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, i.e. Lok Folk (Shilpgram Utsav), a festival of folk dances & crafts of India from 17th to 25th Feb., 2013 at Shilpgram, Near Bus Stand, Khajuraho, Distt. – Chhatarpur in M.P. Last year SCZCC had conducted this on an experimental basis and it was very successful and the response overwhelming. This year again Centre proposes to organize a grand traditional, tribal & folk dance festival with Craft Mela at Shilpgram, Khajuraho to witness the various folk art forms of India & Foreign tourist at Shilpgram.

The craft mela will begin from 1 PM to 9 PM daily from 17h to 25th Feb, 2013 in which artisans from all over India will sell their real & rare craft such as Terracotta, Potteries, Furniture, Jewellery, Toys etc. Delicious food items can be enjoyed at Food Zone.

Folk dance performances will be presented at open air theatre from 6 PM onwards daily from 17th to 19th Feb, 2013 in which Lavani, Gondhal (Maharashta), DholuKunitha (Karnataka), SailaNritya (Chattisgarh), Dhimsa, Mathuri, Gussadi (A.P.), MalwaNritya (Madhya Pradesh), SambalpuriNritya (Orisha), BundelkhandiNritya (Madhya Pradesh) will be performed every day to show rich cultural heritage of India. Around 125 folk artists will perform their vibrant and colourful folk dances. Performances of Bahurupi, Nat Kartab and KacchiGhodi of Rajasthan in craft mela period will be special attraction of the Shilpgram Utsav.

The main objective of organising Shilpgram Utsav is to provide opportunities to people & tourists to know more about each other’s traditional art & culture under National Culture Exchange programme.

Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, I.P.S., Director, S.C.Z.C.C. has appealed & invite all citizens & art lover of Khajuraho and nearby area along with tourists of Khajuraho to witness the grand event of Shilpgram. Craft Mela & Folk dance performance is kept free to all to come and enjoy with their family and friends and connect with the rich cultural diversity of India.
