Search by Experience Delivers Relevant Travel Accommodations

Travelers Bid Farewell to Luck-of-The-Draw Lodging

New York, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/23/2014 -- Traveling is a wonderful adventure, but unfortunately staying in the wrong place can turn the best plans upside down. Jess Harris of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, had a clear vision of his vacation destination. But what he found was the lodging he had reserved was in a “horrible location.” Marian Wright of Orlando had planned to spend her days at the markets, museums, and monuments of Zagreb, Croatia. She ended up booking herself at what she described as a “terrible location for sightseeing.”

Now European Vacation Experience (EVE) has come up with a way for travelers to search for
vacation accommodations based on what they want to do and see at their destination.

Lodging search by experience is being launched in the company’s flagship Paris market. EVE Paris' Managing Partner Jules Kragen says, “It seems simple but this is something entirely new.

We start by asking travelers what they want to experience and then we suggest relevant lodging options. Right now most people have to rely on services like Expedia and Travelocity. From the outset, those agencies just don’t give travelers the information they need to make an informed decision when selecting among hundreds of properties in an unfamiliar city.”

“Our traveler friendly interface is working even better than expected,” adds Kragen. EVE customer Eloy Sosa of Boulder, Colorado, enjoyed her stay in an EVE apartment in Paris. She commented, “The apartment was just as described, it was very comfortable, excellent location and next to everything we needed.”

EVE’s Kragen continues, “Our first release is geared primarily to first-time travelers like the Sosas. They can input what they want to do from either our suggested list of the top 25 things to do in Paris or add other experiences that they have in mind. Then accommodations are matched to the customer by proximity and access to their chosen experiences. This function is absent from the current lodging search landscape.” Once relevant lodging is selected, customers can then narrow their choice by price, quality, and size.

Ron Katz, EVE co-founder and designer of Search by Experience explains what travelers are currently up against. “This spring HotelsCombined listed 2,018 apartments and hotels in London. They placed Continental Hotel in their top 6 London recommendations. This property may be a good deal for some travelers, but most don't realize how far away it is from the main sites. Round trip on public transport to Westminster Abby takes 1 hour and 40 minutes. The British Museum it is 2 hours and 20 minutes. The forty-five minute taxi ride is about $95 each way. For many visitors this would be a disaster. This is simply the wrong place to put a first time visitor or virtually any tourist for that matter.”

“Visitors should not have to guess at what accommodations are relevant to their plans. Our proprietary search algorithm leads travelers to the right lodging,” says Katz.

Search by Experience is patent pending. Release of an advanced search for veteran travelers is slated for the first quarter of 2015. Based in New York, EVE is a provider of short-term vacation lodging and experiences in Europe, North America, and Asia. For more information visit www.eveparis.com
