Southwestern College Revises Website to Be More Accessible to Current and Future Students

Southwestern College Revamps its Website to Make Learning About the College Easier for Prospective Students

Santa Fe, NM -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/29/2012 -- Southwestern College in Santa Fe, New Mexico is always striving to improve their masters degree in counseling and art therapy programs and offerings. The Graduate-level institution has taken several initiatives in the past year towards this end. From freezing tuition costs for the 2012-2013 academic year, to increasing scholarship offerings, the school is raising the bar in making higher education more attainable and affordable for its Counseling and Art Therapy graduate students.

One way that they are enhancing accessibility is through an increased online presence. Over the past year they have taken steps to build communities of students, alumni, staff and fans on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Google Plus. YouTube videos showcase everything from information about the school to student projects, interviews with graduates and more, and improvements to their Search Engine Optimization allow for more students to easily find the college.

In keeping with the desire to increase online visibility, the latest accessibility initiative of Southwestern College is an overhaul of their website. Aimed at making it easier for prospective students to learn about the college, many of the most requested pages on the website are now readily available right from landing. Information request, admission applications and mailing list signup forms are now prominently placed. Also easily located is information about what scholarships the college offers along with information about other financial aid options.

For the prospect who wants to learn more about the programs offered by the college there are dropdown menus to a variety of answers to common questions. Students can learn more about the school, the degree and certificate programs as well as get an overview of the admissions process.

Links to the school’s blog are also highly visible in the new layout. Featuring posts from College President Jim Nolan, faculty, students, staff and alumni, the blogs present another opportunity for prospective students to gain insight into the environment of Southwestern College.

Southwestern College students undergo advanced academic coursework that follows national standards for the Counseling and Art Therapy professions. In the holistic learning environment students can pursue studies that range from the transformational to the clinical, all while enjoying the benefit of small class sizes. They are exposed to hands on work in their field while also doing deeply self-reflective work, such as vision quests, to increase their self-awareness.
