Spanish Immersion Program Announces 2015 Summer Tours

 

Quetzaltenango, Guatemala -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/25/2014 -- Spanish immersion school and educational tour company, Casa Xelaju, http://www.casaxelaju.com/ announces their 2015 Summer Tour schedule.  Registration is officially open for programs running from June 15 to June 24, with chaperone Chris Perry and from July 3  to July 12 with Chaperone Julio E. Batres.

This exciting cultural immersion experience with Casa Xelaju  includes a visit to ancient Mayan ruins, hot mineral springs, hiking to the crater of a dormant volcano, a cooking class, salsa dancing, shopping in markets filled with jewelry, textiles and local handicrafts, and much more.

Participants will visit a rural elementary school, observe a variety of classes and talk to local  teachers.  Educators may earn 50 Continuing Education Units (CEU’s). While in the city of Quetzaltenango, travelers will live with local families, eat typical Guatemalan cuisine, learn about local customs and traditions and have the opportunity to practice communicating in Spanish. An introductory Spanish class is provided, as well as a bilingual guide who accompanies the group.

The tours includes all necessary ground transportation, a boat ride across beautiful Lake Atitlan, a day of kayaking, hotels (based on double occupancy), all breakfasts, entry fees to the parks and museums included in the tour, translations when necessary, Spanish classes, cooking and salsa classes, and home stay with a family in Quetzaltenango.

Tourists will be provided with three meals a day while with the families. Not provided are tips, lunches and dinners when traveling away from Quetzaltenango and airfare to and from the tourist's country of origin to the capitol, Guatemala City. This is a supported travel experience with continuous access to a bilingual tour coordinator.
