Starjumper Legacy: Innovative New Science Fiction Book for a Largely Ignored Market

Written by Christopher Bailey, ‘Starjumper Legacy: The Crystal Key’ is a must-have for kids who love science-fiction but just can’t seem to find any books for their age group. Completely family friendly, this novel is already grabbing the attention of schools, libraries and reading groups around the globe.

Seattle, WA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/28/2014 -- Too often, authors and publishers assume that younger teens aren’t interested in science fiction, but as author Christopher Bailey found out with the release of his book, ‘Starjumper Legacy: The Crystal Key’, that just isn’t true.

“I’ve been pleased by the enthusiastic response,” says Bailey. “But I wasn’t surprised. I realized as I was writing that this is a niche market that is often overlooked. In the very short time since the book’s release, it’s already received attention from public libraries, after-school programs, and middle school Honors reading programs. I’ve also had two requests so far to come do book signings at elementary schools.”

Packed to the brim with action, humor, vivid descriptions and a good dose of actual science, ‘Starjumper Legacy’ follows the adventures of main character Allie, a thirteen-year-old girl with a special gift. Lost on a strange and alien world far across the galaxy and pursued by a cruel tyrant, Allie must shed her fears and become what she was always meant to be – a Starjumper.

Featuring a strong and spunky heroine, this vibrant and age-appropriate tale will thrill readers as young as five, and as old as ninety-five!

Synopsis:

On Allie Bennett's thirteenth birthday, one special gift will unlock the gateway to an adventure that will span the galaxy, and throw her into a war decades in the making.

Abandoned by her parents and adopted at a young age, Allie was working hard at living a normal life, until one special birthday gift from her missing mother changed everything and left her stranded, lost and alone on the wrong side of the galaxy. Fighting to survive in an alien world, Allie desperately hopes for rescue from her best friend Dav. When she learns the truth behind Dav's real purpose however, she finds that even the closest of friends can be far more, or less, than they seem.

Betrayed at every turn, tangled in a web of secrets drawing ever tighter around her, hunted by a brutal tyrant, Allie holds in her hands the key to saving not only her own world, but the entire galaxy. All Allie wants is to go home. That and pass Algebra, though that might be too much to hope for. Instead, she must become something thought lost forever: a hero with an ancient legacy... a Starjumper.

To date, the novel has garnered rave reviews.

“Great book, finally something NEW! Sci-fi is not something I am readily interested in but this book had me from the start. Written so well as to believe it is possible! Superb - could not put it down. Anxiously await the sequel!” wrote Steeni.

Calling it “one of the best young adult books I’ve ever read!” Jeffrey wrote: “The action is fast paced and detailed, but even at its most intense there is enough humor to have me laughing out loud and disturbing my co-workers while I read during my lunch break. I have read a lot of books in my life, and I can easily say that this book is one of the most engaging, amusing, and fun books I have ever read… This book is a must read for teenagers and adults alike!”

As for Bailey, the author is already hard at work on the next two books in the trilogy.

“Allie’s adventures aren’t over yet,” says Bailey. “It’s been exhilarating to receive this kind of attention for the book, and to have fans who are already clamoring for the next installment.

Thankfully, I also hear from parents that they’re enjoying the series too – and it’s something they look forward to sharing with their kids. There’s no greater compliment that you can receive as an author.”

About Christopher Bailey
Christopher Bailey lives in Washington with his amazing wife, happily expecting their first child. Working professionally with children for more than twelve years has helped him develop a fondness for children’s literature, and a frustration for the lack of good stories for older children that are completely family-friendly.

Inspired by an argument between two children in the school where he worked, he decided to write his first novel, ‘Starjumper Legacy: The Crystal Key’. In answer to that argument, magic and science are one and the same, only divided by level of understanding. The real truth is that both exist in our world today if you only take the time to look closely enough.

With half a dozen more novels already in the works including the exciting sequel to “The Crystal Key”, he looks forward to the chance to publish many more stories yet to come and hopes his readers enjoy reading his books as much as he enjoyed writing them. The adventure continues...
